Information we use

We use account details such as your email, legal name, date of birth, screen name, profile information, preferences, membership status, service activity, support requests, blocks, and safety reports to operate Kindred Spirits, prevent fraud, enforce age restrictions, provide support, and protect members.

Government-ID verification

The secure identity-verification provider processes your government-issued ID and selfie. Kindred Spirits stores the provider session identifier, status, and completion time—not the raw ID images or full document number. The provider handles verification data under its own privacy and retention terms.

Profiles, photos, and messages

Your chosen screen name, age, general area, profile details, interests, goals, and approved photos may be shown to eligible members. Uploaded photos are stored privately, have metadata removed, and are not shown to other members until approved. Private messages are available only within eligible mutual matches, but may be retained and reviewed when needed for safety, fraud, support, or legal compliance. Scam Shield stores the type and risk level of a flagged message—not a second copy of the message—in a restricted safety record linked to the message.

SafeCircle and consent records

Fresh-verification requests, private-photo consent decisions, private-photo review status, personal date plans, check-in timestamps, and post-date feedback are stored to provide the safety features you choose. Private photos are available only within the eligible match covered by active consent. Date plans should identify a public meeting place or area, not a home address. Kindred Spirits does not collect live location through SafeCircle, automatically contact a trusted person, or provide emergency dispatch.

Location

If you choose to confirm your location, the service rounds browser-provided coordinates to a broad area before storage and displays only your chosen city or general area and an approximate distance band. Exact live location is not displayed to other members. You can refuse browser location permission, although location-dependent discovery may remain unavailable.

Payments

PayPal processes payment details. Kindred Spirits stores order and capture identifiers, product, amount, status, and access dates needed to activate purchases, prevent duplicate use of the Basic founding offer, handle refunds, and resolve disputes. We do not store full card or bank-account numbers.

County registration counters

We store your selected county and registration time to enforce the regional offer limit of 250 registrations per county. Public county counters display aggregate registration and email-confirmation counts, not names or email addresses. County selections are self-reported and do not establish verified residency. Existing accounts are not assigned a county automatically. Contact support for corrections.

Sharing and retention

We share information with service providers only as needed for identity verification, payments, hosting, photo storage and review, security, support, and legal compliance. We retain account, transaction, moderation, and safety records for operational, fraud-prevention, tax, dispute, and legal purposes, and limit access to people and systems that need it.

Security and age restrictions

We use secure session cookies, access controls, rate limits, and other safeguards to protect the service. No security measure is perfect. Kindred Spirits is not for anyone under 18, and accounts or reports suggesting underage use may be restricted and reviewed.

Your choices

You may edit public profile details, keep an incomplete profile private, remove your photos, decline or revoke private-photo consent, manage blocked members, and contact support about access, correction, deletion, or other privacy requests. Some transaction, safety, and legal records may need to be retained. Do not place sensitive legal, financial, medical, identity-document, or home-address information in your profile, messages, or date plans.
